I entered the wonderful world of photography in 1987, after purchase of a basic DSLR camera. I took my first aviation related photo during 1991, while visiting the Royal Netherlands Air Force Open Day. A publication in a magazine followed shortly thereafter, opening a whole new world for me.
Over the years I've had the opportunity to visit most air forces in Europe as well as several others on different continents, managing to fly with 17 of those air forces and logging more than 100 flights. Many of these visits to air forces, exercises and air shows resulted in published material in various international aviation magazines, -books as well as on the internet. My first book, describing the South Korean Air Force in detail, was published during 2021, followed by a second book with my name on it during 2024..
I love a good challenge, and The Unit report is just that!

I grew up in a small village in the Netherlands. After serving in the Royal Netherlands Army, I packed up my stuff and moved across the pond to the USA. Since then I have lived all over the US and currently reside in Connecticut.

As a young teenager I developed an interest in military aviation and photography. I was a fanatic photographer up until I went to college and started working in the music business. In late 2017 I finally purchased a camera again and I haven’t looked back since. It feels just like old times. My work has been published by various media outlets, companies and Air Forces around the world including: Rolling Stone Magazine, New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, Combat Aircraft Journal, Scramble, Lockheed Martin, Royal Netherlands Air Force, US Air Force and many others.
I'm very excited to start working at The Unit Report and look forward to bringing you the best possible military aviation content.
